Karimunjawa National Park, also Karimun Jawa National Park, is a national marine park designated in the Karimunjawa archipelago, Jepara Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. It lies 80 km north west of Jepara, Central Java in the Java Sea.
The national park was formally declared as Marine Protection Area in
2001. Based on popular local myth, this archipelago was discovered by
Sunan Nyamplungan, the nephew of Sunan Kudus who is one of the Wali Sanga.[3]
Karimunjawa is also a tourist attraction popular for its white sandy
beach, pristine coral reefs, challenging treks through the hills, the
pilgrimage to Sunan Nyamplungan Cemetery, and the customs and traditions

"Karimunjawa islands off Java" Karimunjawa by theo1006
The Karimunjawa island group consists of 27 islands in the Java Sea 90
km north of Jepara. Only 5 of them are inhabited and the whole group has
been declared a National Marine Park. They are the best destination
from Java for snorkeling and scuba diving or just relaxing on the sandy
beaches.
We had wanted to go there in 2008, but found out in time that the ferry "Muria" was out of service for repairs. So in May 2009 we spent five days there and were not disappointed. The number of foreign visitors is still very limited and domestic tourists arrive only on holidays, so it is easy to imagine that the islands are there just for you.
